The workshops for language teachers provide information, inspiration and practical ideas for those who want to help their students to be better and more confident independent language learners.
Below is an outline of some of the workshops I lead, as well as testimonials and a selected bibliography for language teachers.
Workshop 1. Helping students to become successful independent language learners. We look at different types of language learning strategies that have been identified by researchers and that are suitable for Spanish language courses. I share a sequence of activities that I use which can be easily and effectively implemented to teach strategies.
Workshop 2. The golden keys to excellent speaking skills. We analyse the difficulties that students experience with speaking skills, and key strategies that help them to develop excellent fluency and accuracy.
Workshop 3. Achieving more success with revision cards. We explore research on flashcards, and look at how to train students in designing and using them effectively for regular revision and exams.
María’s workshop on language learning strategies truly inspired our language tutors working for the programme to widen their repertoire of pedagogical tools to support students, not only by teaching them how to organise and manage their learning but also by introducing them to effective tactics to learn a language.
